New Orleans Real Estate by Eric

Later Guys, Evacuting from New Orleans. You will have to pray and wish!

God knows we need not another storm like Katrina. The town was empty today as most have left town. See all you guys later. Hope I am dry when I return. Going to Orange Beach, its ironic but that was the few places that had rooms. People cancelled because of the storm. Couple of photos in passing. LSU won today.  One of my twin sons has two sets  of twins aged 3 and one month. He evacuated to Alexander this mornng. My other son is off to Houston. Taking my 87 year old father in with us. You cannot take much.

You can  see that  this is stressful for Louisiana. Best of Luck to Lisa, Frank and John my New Orleans Blogging buddies. Talk about a real estate vacation!!!! Got to finish packing and get on the road.

Remember the media never tells it like it really is. There is always another side. They just buried the last 85 people this week that were unclaimed bodies from Katrina.

Our prayers are with you Eric. Hopefully Gustav will not be as bad as they say and if it is a major hurricane to land near you guys again the levees will hold this time. I hope your time away is short this time. Great photos my friend. Glad LSU won.

Eric - I always love to see your wonderful photos.  I sure hope the storm will bypass your area and that everyone will be safe.

Eric, I am trying to figure out how to get back from Chicago. If not this could be another long venture. Take care and safe travels.

I have to get all the stuff cleared on my balcony and revisit the grocery store.  Still haven't committed to staying in OB yet.  We were going to check the storm tracker today and make a decision today.  I just wonder how the traffic is on I-65 to Atlanta.  Anybody know?

I'm sure this brings back unpleasant memories of the past - I'm thankful that the storm is now Category 3 - I will pray for you and your family.

Good luck with that ol' storm. My partner went through Hurricanes Carla, Beulah, Celia, and Allen, and he doesn't really miss them.

During Beulah his family had considered evacuating from his home in Kingsville, Texas, but didn't so he got to watch from the bedroom windows as all the trees got blown down, but they survived.

Meanwhile, Beulah headed to San Antonio where the winds overturned many small planes at a private airport there, and tornadoes killed several people. San Antonio is where his family would have evacuated to since they had other family members there.

Even after several of his family members lost their homes in Slidell and Chalmette, Louisiana, during Katrina, he's not sure whether he would evacuate or stay for some of those "storms of the century." Perhaps that's why he's in San Diego, California, with me, where the weather is beautiful and earthquakes are few are far between, certainly not like L.A. and San Francisco.

Cal, Made it to Orange Beach. Most of the tourist have left. We are at the Phoenix 6, big waves and some wind. I will try to give you a call tommorow. You kind of lose track of time when you leave in a hurry.

Thanks guys for the thoughts, real estate vacation is now in effect, lol.

I am not at all surprised to see the will of the brave and resilient people of New Orleans turn Gustav away - we are all really happy for you and your great city

Eric thanks for the plug.  Glad it was a glancing blow to our area.  Houma mostly will be OK once the electricity is turned back on.
